Winter allows us time for reflection and also an opportunity to look forward to the coming season. The last twelve months have been strange for everyone. The communities on the West Coast have been lucky so far with very low rates of COVID infection and although ‘locked down’ at the moment we were fortunate to be in Tier 2 between July and December.
This allowed us to re-open the Cottages and it was great to see guests, both repeat and new, spend time here. Although it is difficult to predict when, we look forward to welcoming guests back again. Despite the uncertainty booking enquiries are high and we are filling up quickly.
Here in Badachro it is a bit like Ice Station Zebra at the moment: the bay is frozen over and we have a lot of snow on the hills. We are having some fantastic weather with light breezes and blue skies so we’ve been making the most of it.
Sue has been out wild swimming in the sea (the freshwater lochs are frozen over) and Tom has been surfing in the beautiful swells that are rolling down the Minch and crashing onto the beaches at Opinan, Firemore and Melvaig.
We have also been on the hills making the most of the snow with a bit of walking and ski touring. Whilst not out enjoying ourselves we have been undertaking the usual winter maintenance in the cottages.
We have freshened up the gloss paintwork, replaced the sofas in each of the cottages and also some of the bedroom furniture in the twin rooms. During the summer it is our intention to repaint the outside of the Cottages and our house. We will need some warm dry weather for that one! We hope to see you here at Ceomara over the coming months enjoying the area we love so much.
